Abu Dhabi, Nov. 2, 2020—President of the Emirates Policy Center (EPC), Dr. Ebtesam Al-Ketbi, President and CEO of the Atlantic Council, Mr. Frederick Kempe and Executive Director of the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv, Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Amos Yadlin on Nov. 1, 2020, took part in a webinar to launch their strategic partnership which was signed by the three think tanks on Oct. 15, 2020.
The heads of the three think tanks affirmed that this trilateral partnership stems from the spirit of the Abraham Accords which coincided with the announcement of the UAE-Israel peace treaty in mid-August 2020. This partnership will be built upon the momentum generated by normalization of bilateral relations. It will be also the research focus of scholars and researchers in global think-tank community who are eager to contribute to the UAE-Israel relations.
During the webinar, the heads of the three research centers discussed the normalization of ties between the UAE, Kingdom of Bahrain, and Israel, how the process progresses, and the reactions to this step in the Gulf region and Iran. The discussions also tried to find answers to some questions including how the momentum generated by peacemaking might affect the U.S policy in the Middle East after the U.S Presidential elections? What regional opportunities do these agreements offer Israel? How could the current normalization process ultimately lead to the return of Israel and the Palestinians to the negotiating table?
