Future Tracks in Egypt: A Civil war, a Civil State or Political Stalemate?

The assessment presents the following three possible major tracks for the situation in Egypt in the aftermath of the June 30th revolution: • The civil war scenario, • The modern civil state scenario, • The political stalemate scenario and the continuation of the tug of war between the regime and the Muslim Brotherhood. The assessment concludes that the current political scene includes the elements of each track. However, the second track is the most likely one to continue if the ruling regime preserves the unity of the national coalition, which supports the future roadmap, properly maintains its relationship with the supporters of the non-brotherhood Islamists, and ensures the minimum of economic achievement.
