Egyptian Reactions to the Results of the Constitutional Referendum

The analysis reviews the general characteristics of the political forces’ stance regarding the results of the constitutional referendum, which was held on Jan. 14-15, 2014. The analysis reiterates that the position of these forces was influenced by its previous political stands. There was some level of disparity in interpreting the significance of these results on the following issues: • The future of the Muslim Brotherhood movement, • The nomination of Field Marshal el Sisi for presidency, • The percentage of youth participation, • The popularity of al Noor Party. The analysis points out that the results of the referendum established a new legitimacy that cements stability in Egypt.
