The analysis monitors the return of factional protests during the first weeks of Feb. 2014, notably the strikes by physicians, pharmacists, workers of the Public Transport Authority, textile workers, postal service workers, the Recorder of Deeds employees and police officers. The analysis provides the following four explanations for the spread of these protests: • An expression of economic demands and needs, • A reflection and a result of the civil service mismanagement, • An indication of inequality among institutions, • It could represent one aspect of the confrontation between the Muslim Brotherhood and the state.
