EPC | 01 Jul 2013

The assessment highlights reasons behind the failure of the experience of the Muslim Brotherhood in running Egypt through a number of indicators, notably, the lack of qualifications and underestimating the presidential position, the overlaps and duplicity between the movement and the state and the Brotherhood’s deceiving air of certainty and the false reading of the real situation. The assessment introduces several scenarios for the future of the Islamist project in Egypt whether by revisions inside the Muslim Brotherhood, or through dissent and the rise of enlightened versions of the movement, or by resorting to violence and the rise of more extreme versions of the Muslim Brotherhood.
