The Houthi Movement in Yemen: Weaknesses and Vague Policies

EPC | 23 Jul 2013

The Houthi Movement has interacted with the new situation in Yemen in 2011. Through its political actions and interactions with other parties, it can be noticed that the movement has adopted clear policies and plans on most of the current political issues in the country. Despite its large number of elements of strength, still the movement suffers from several issues that constitute points of weakness, which pose threats to the movement and its future. Furthermore, the movement has not drafted clear policies on these issues and seems closer to adopting ill-conceived policies on such issues, out of belief that the fait accompli and the influence of expansion and power will be enough to curtail these problems. Still, this is not enough and the movement must -sooner or later- pause andrethink these issues and adopt clear solutions to it.
