The Deteriorating Ties between Yemen and GCC States

Ties between Yemen and three GCC states (Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait) have been deteriorating during the second year of Hadi’s presidency and the Gulf initiative, which has adopted a transitional political solution in the country in 2011. There are several reasons behind this deterioration, which gets worse as time passes by and makes all parties of this relationship lose and force them to adopt options that might not be in the interest of any. Furthermore, it might be impossible to backtrack on those options or contain their consequences. This paper highlights the most important drawbacks and dangers for the four countries as a result of the status quo in their relations. The paper also presents a number of recommendations for the two sides, as well as requirements and justifications for those recommendations.
