EPC | 31 Dec 2013

The paper discusses the declaration by the Egyptian government of the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group and the series of blows suffered by the MB everywhere, including Yemen. Therefore, the chances for the Yemeni MB to hold power in the Yemen, or at least remain the biggest power, have diminished. The paper analyzes the impact of the indirect aftershocks of the Egyptian declaration on the Yemeni MB as a result of the burden it imposes on Yemen’s foreign policy, its regional ties and the state of embarrassment for their local allies. The paper also explores the reaction of the Yemeni MB and their future political approach.
