In light of the potential impact of the coronavirus pandemic on international order, EPC will organize a video conference titled “Coronavirus Crisis and Potential Global Geo-Strategic Shifts” on Tuesday, April 21, 2020 from 3-4:30 (GMT) ( 6-7:30 Abu Dhabi local time).

EPC President, Dr. Ebtesam Al-Ketbi will provide an introduction to the symposium - in which the U.S scholar Josef Nye will be the main speaker, and attended by a select of experts inside and outside the center.

The symposium will try to answer the following questions:

  • What is the impact of the coronavirus crisis on the re-definition of power concept and the redistribution of power in the world?
  • What is the impact of the coronavirus crisis on the relationship between global great powers? Will it move these powers towards cooperation or more competition?
  • Will the rise of China and the decline of the US global leadership continue after the coronavirus crisis?
  • Will the coronavirus crisis enhance international responsibility, supranational agreements and multinational understandings or lead to the reemergence of nationalist trends?
  • Will the coronavirus crisis have an impact on globalization, global interdependence and global supply chains?

The symposium will be live streamed on EPC’s account on all various social media platforms and the center’s YouTube channel.
