A Military Coup d’état or a Popular Revolution: Debating the Concept of Democracy

 
The paper tackles the political and intellectual debate raised by the June 30th revolution, the ousting of President Morsi and whether it was a revolution or a coup d’état by reviewing two concepts and schools on defining democracy: - Formal or procedural democracy, - Substantive democracy Moreover, the paper discusses how the Muslim Brotherhood has used the new regime and differences about these concepts to prove its views.
