Did Washington Change its Stance Regarding the Ruling Regime in Egypt?
The assessment starts by introducing a method to better understand the American foreign policy in general and how it is an outcome of the dynamics between a number of actors and official as well as, non-official forces, and the different US interests. Despite the presence of motivations to change this policy due to mismanagement by the Muslim Brotherhood, Washington’s fear that the regime’s policies will plunge Egypt into uncontrollable chaos. In addition, due to the regime’s practices, which embolden extreme and violent Islamist groups, Washington might continue its stance, which supports the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood, especially in light of weak civil opposition and the lack of a substitute for this opposition. The US will continue its objection to the military’s intervention in running the country and leave this to all opposition parties.
